The mission of the Caledonia Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in our community by working cooperatively with the public to enforce the law, preserve the peace, reduce the fear of crime and provide for a safe environment.
To accomplish this mission, we are committed to values that guide our work and decisions and help us contribute to the quality of life in our community.
A police organization is guided in its operation by laws, ordinances, procedures, rules and regulations. In addition to legal and administrative requirements, police organizations are powerfully influenced by their values, where values are beliefs that guide the organization and the behavior of its employees.
To help accomplish our mission, the Caledonia Police Department is committed to the values that guide our work and decisions:
Human Life- We revere human life and dignity above all else.
Laws and Constitution- We believe in the principles embodied in the Constitution of the United States, and the Constitution of the State of Wisconsin. We recognize the authority of federal, state and local laws. Above all, we will protect the constitutional rights and personal freedoms of all citizens.
Responsiveness- We will be responsive to the needs of the community, working together to solve problems of mutual concern. We believe that cooperation among ourselves, members of the community, governmental entities and other law enforcement agencies will enable us to combine our diverse backgrounds, skills and styles to achieve common goals.Sensitivity- We will be sensitive to the needs and concerns of our community.
Accountability- We are responsible for our conduct and performance, both to ourselves and to the community.
Organizational Efficiency- We are committed to providing police services as efficiently as possible.
Community Orientation- We will strive to always do what is in the best interests of the community.
Compassion- We will show empathy and caring for victims, complainants, and all people with whom we come into contact.
Problem Solving- We will do our best to identify and solve community problems.
Integrity- We believe that honesty is the basis for personal and public trust.
Teamwork- We recognize the importance of each employee as an individual and a team member. We will strive to apply all these values to our interactions with each other.
Communications (Dispatch)
The Department has its own communications center equipped with a repeater/digital radio system and a computer aided dispatch and records management system, which is shared with many other agencies within Racine County. Information sharing is the mission-critical requirement to achieve public safety, incident management, crime investigations, homeland security, protect the American public, and to defend against terrorism. Therefore, most Department squads are additionally outfitted with mobile computers which serve law enforcement as additional tools in the safest and most up to date communications and information sharing between the Dispatchers and Officers.
